Etaoin - 'Pale Damp Cheeks'

Singer-songwriter Etaoin shares her aching second single, ‘Pale Damp Cheeks’, out now via MADE Records.

In January of this year, Etaoin made a tender and deeply touching introduction for herself with her debut single, ‘Bedroom Walls’ which saw her breathe fresh life into the confessional acoustic genre. Last month, Etaoin returned with ‘Pale Damp Cheeks’, a minimal number driven by a deeply affecting, finger-picked guitar melody and Etaoin’s exposed vocal.

Etaoin knows how to fully own the space within her sound. She expertly navigates sparse and delicate melodies with a bold determination that pours emotion into her listener, leaving them feeling full. Etaoin’s powerful, distinctive vocal makes sure she is heard. This is very poignant considering that her songs reflect on the times in her personal life she feels she has not been seen or heard.

So on one hand, Etaoin is releasing tracks that are born from the wounds we collect when we’re feeling fragile, rejected, heartbroken, defeated. But they’re also empowering, honest and brave. In sharing her experiences in such a delicate, yet unapologetic way, Etaoin gently tells her listener that yes, sometimes life hurts, and it’s okay to hurt. Sometimes people let us down, sometimes we let ourselves down, but these lived experiences are very much shared. We’re not alone.

‘Pale Damp Cheeks’ is taken from Etaoin’s upcoming debut EP which I for one am very greedy to hear.
