Dead Slow Hoot - 'Low Road'
Sheffield/London based band Dead Slow Hoot dig deep and reflect on toxic insecurity on their latest single ‘Low Road’.
The track lures you in early with some beautiful hazy guitar tones and fuzz, but don’t let that fool you. As the track develops it progresses into an intense frenzy, allowing the lyrical content to not just unfold with words but with their instruments too. Similar to their previous track ‘Taller Tree’ - Dead Slow Hoot take you on an rollercoaster ride of emotional intensity with their ability to allow their music to unravel to such a level that you can’t help but be blown away’.
“I wrote Low Road in the midst of what turned out to be a personality crisis and it kind of earmarked the onset of a really toxic insecurity where I was so eager to relate to new people that I would sideline other people in my life and just act out in pretty cruel ways. It’s summed up in the lines
‘I’m using outside to colour my cheeks
and leaving myself just out of reach’
It’s a companion song to Taller Tree in subject matter, but written from a much darker place because, at the time, I didn’t even realise it was about myself” - explains vocalist Hugo Lynch
Along with the release of their single ‘Low Road’ - Dead Slow Hoot have announced the release of their new EP ‘A Kinder Kind’ which will be out on the 17th June 2021. If this single is anything to go by, this EP will be the dark horse release of the summer.
