girlhouse – 'loaded gun'
Following a number of gorgeous singles, bedroom pop newcomer girlhouse, aka Lauren Luiz, shares vibrant new track ‘loaded gun’.
To a backdrop of fuzzy guitars and steady rhythms, Lauren’s infectious vocals quickly turn into the main attraction. Coated in reverb, they paint ‘loaded gun’ a sunny shade of yellow. Despite talking about quite a heavy topic (trauma and abuse), the track is remarkably upbeat, sparkling not only with hope but forgiveness. “I feel like forgiving people from your past for abuse or neglect that happened to you when you were young and vulnerable is SO important to start forgiving yourself,” Lauren explains. “This song is a moment when I recognized inherited bad behavior and wanting to take control of my future."
‘loaded gun’ is the final offering in the runup to ‘the girlhouse ep’, a collection of songs that gives a glimpse into the intricate world of Lauren Luiz. "This EP follows my story of landing in LA and finding out exactly how ignorant I was to the real world,” she reveals, “whether that be relationships, men in general, career, sex, friendships, or battling mental illness and dealing with trauma, it all felt new to me."
