Oscar Lang – 'Stuck'
Oscar Lang announces debut album ‘Chew The Scenery’ alongside stomping lead single ‘Stuck’.
2020 saw Oscar Lang experiment with a multitude of sounds and textures. From psychedelic indie pop over snappy hooks to prowling garage-rock, he has mastered them all over the course of three captivating EPs. New single ‘Stuck’ picks up where most recent offering ‘Antidote To Being Bored’ left off: in the scuzzy realms of roaring indie rock. To a fuzzy backdrop of chunky guitars and angular rhythms, Oscar really homes in on distorted vocals and growling beats giving the track a Sports Team-esque vibe of nonchalant chaos. “‘Stuck’ is about the feeling of replaying embarrassing situations in your mind to the point where you feel overwhelmed with all the voices in your head,” Oscar explains. “I spend a lot of the time re-hashing old experiences and often it means I’m a bit spaced out and can’t pay attention to things because I’m so distracted by my own thoughts. I wanted to express that chaos of all those voices running through my head down into a song.”
An amalgamation of last year’s extensive sonic explorations, ‘Chew The Scenery’ promises to be not only Oscar’s most ambitious project to date but a detailed snapshot of his mental state. Spanning topics such as growing pains, love, friendship and the dangers of social media, the album is an exercise in introspection soundtracked by Oscar’s bold twist on indie rock.
