The Velvet Hands - 'Star'

Cornish four-piece The Velvet Hands release feel-good indie-rock anthem ‘Star’.

With ripping riffs and a tenacious drumbeat, The Velvet Hands release their new single ‘Star’. The relentless power and gritty vocals of the song champions indie guitar music and revives the energy of the seventies rock ‘n’ roll scene.

The Cornish band have joined forces with award-winning brass arranger Simon Dobson on horns, known for working with Architects and Bring me the Horizon, as well as the remarkable Jazz Urell on backing vocals.

The band have mixed things up with guitarist, Dan Able, on lead vocal. “Show me your dream and I’ll make it a scene, yeah now you’re going to be star.” The lyrics beg to be played loud.

The band revealed that reality television inspired the song’s lyrics. “‘Star’ was inspired by someone I met who went on Celebs Go Dating with a genuine intention to find love, only to find herself aghast when the producers started asking her to cause drama. Love was not found but ‘Star’ was. It’s a big two fingers up at reality culture and the selling of one’s dignity for fame.”

Back when gigs were a thing, The Velvet Hands toured with music legends such as Liam Gallagher and Paul Weller.

The band’s new tune ‘Star’ follows recent singles ‘Back On A Winner’ and ‘When This Is Over’ proving they have an arsenal of huge sounding indie-rock tracks waiting to be performed live when they head out on their own tour in November.
