Dizzy deliver us a shiny new version of their single ‘Sunflower, Are you There’ featuring Kevin Garret.

Dizzy are back with a second single of their upcoming EP Separate Places due out 11th June on Communion Records, and features other top drawer indie pop outfits such as MarthaGunn and Honeymoan.

The EP consists of tracks taken from their 2020 album ‘The Sun and Her Scorch’ but gives a fresh new twist to these already fantastic songs by collaborating with other artists to drive them into a new sonic world.

Dizzy are made up of Katie Munshaw and the Spencer brothers (Charlie, Mackenzie & Alexander). The Canadian 4 piece released ‘The Sun and Her Scorch’ back in 2020 which is currently nominated for Best Alternative Album at The Juno Awards this year, a prestigious title previously won by the likes of Arcade Fire, Alvvays and Dizzy themselves on their first album Baby Teeth.

Unable to tour the album due to the pandemic, the band were forced to get creative with ways to travel their songs and engage their audience.  “The Separate Places EP has allowed songs from ‘The Sun and Her Scorch’ to go on tour without us,” Katie explains. “Following some of our favourite artists around the globe from Birmingham, London, New York and back to Toronto.” The first track to be given a new spin was ‘The Magician’ under its new title ‘The Bird Behind The Drapes’ featuring Luna Li was released last month.

The new ‘Sunflower’ is a dreamier version of the original with electronic drums and ambient textures featuring Kevi Garrett taking lead vocals on the second verse. Grammy nominated Garrett is an American musician based in New York and is known for his songwriting work on Beyonce’s ‘Lemonade’ album as well his work on his own music. Blending electronic vocal layering and distorted guitars this collaboration gives us a fresh and exciting version of the song bound to be in your head for days on end.
