Calva Louise - 'Other Self'

When you are a live act as strong as Calva Louise, bringing that energy to our private spaces through recorded music can be quite the challenge. Their latest ‘Other Self’ is as close as we are going to get!

No live experience can be beat by recorded music, but ‘Other Self’ is coming very close to the explosive energy Calva Louise brings to the stage when they completely tear them down during their live shows. Filled with filthy riffs and led by the powerful vocals of front vocalist Jess, ‘Other Self’ is accompanied by a video that showcases a rather spot-on representation of what happens in our heads when listening to the alternative trio.

All elements are there, including an energetic soundscape and tight vocals, it’s only missing that edge that makes it either a festive party track, or a dark and moody rock track, ‘Other Self’ lies somewhere in-between.

‘Other Self’ is the next cut from the forthcoming album ‘Euphoric’, which is due for release on the 20th of August and is described by the band as being “about the intrinsic meaning of individuality and relationships with people in the everyday world. Simultaneously, it’s about the uncertainty of a possible complementary duality, manifested through dreams.”

Despite ‘Other Self’ not being the extravagant and energising track we would have hoped for, it does perfectly translate its message and the story behind the creation of the song. To more Calva Louise!
