Texas soul singer Leon Bridges is back with his third studio album Gold-Diggers Sound which is a smooth and beautiful body of work, Bridges is undoubtably one of the of the most diverse artists around today.

Greatly inspired by classic soul & blues Leon has continued to develop as an artist creating sensational songs, collaborating with some of the worlds best artists and achieving various awards including a grammy. Although Leon has prompted comparisons to Legendary artists like Otis Redding and Sam Cooke, Leon Bridges has moulded his own sound which combines soul, R&B, blues and Jazz this is definitely showcased in his new album Gold-Diggers Sound.

The introduction to Gold-Diggers Sound is the song Born Again (feat. Robert Glasper) which features a heavy jazz based core sound with Leon’s vocals working effortlessly so well together. This is then followed by the lead single Motorbike which is a really catchy R&B song which really is one of the highlights of the album. Another highlight of the album is the song Steam which is another great soulful song which has some incredible pop melodies.

The consistency over the album is really stimulating with Leon’s magnificent vocals being the centre piece. Leon’s voice merges together so wonderfully with the R&B, Jazz and pop sounds in the album making him a great all round performer. Evidence of Leon’s eclectic vocal range can be found in songs like Sweeter, Don’t Worry and Details.

It is truly great to see Leon Bridges development as an artist from his bluesy debut album Coming Home to the smooth R&B Gold-Diggers Sound. Bridges is most definitely a major festival headliner in waiting.
