Polly Money - 'Water'

Polly Money knows how to create an intro that is hard not to dance along to with new release ‘Water’. Put on your dancing shoes, wipe that frown of your face and let go with this infectious new pop hit.

If you’re looking for a light-hearted pop song with a smooth and uplifting soundscape, we recommend ‘Water’. Listening to Polly Money’s new guitar-driven, hook-filled pop is like drinking in the sunshine, a welcome change from many of the dreary folk pop songs that have come from lockdown-era artists. ‘Water’ was released via her own label and it is the positive sound we have been waiting for.

The Cornish-born artist and multi-instrumentalist creates a sunset-streaked sound that captures the feeling of aimlessness and with ‘Water’ she enters a new era, a bold and hip-swaying one. Despite its groovy and polished sound, the story behind ‘Water’ is quite the bittersweet one: “‘Water’ is about being in a toxic relationship and feeling trapped in it, but that person you are being trapped by is also the only one who makes you happy.”

It is admirable Polly Money was able to create such an upbeat and refined track from a situation rather uneasy to face. “I had started writing ‘Water’ before I’d met the person that it evolved into being about. Initially, it was about getting stuck in my own head too much and wanting to break free of that - then, it took on a double meaning once I’d come out of a relationship that wasn’t particularly healthy, and that was when I felt able to finish the song.”
