Emerging British singer and poet Sarah Carton has just released her new single ‘Lemon’ - a delightful piece of bubblegum-pop that mixes with spoken-word.

An alternative summer break up song, there is a huge dose of nostalgia in this, mixing MSN notification sounds into the track’s production - the song reminds us of early Kate Nash and Lily Allen. That cheeky lyric flow about female empowerment following a summer break up.

The video for the single features an all-female cast and crew, celebrates female friendship through the lens of a netball class on a London rooftop court.

“I wanted to celebrate the strength of female friendships and the empowerment they can bring following a break-up. The song’s based on a time I found out a guy I was seeing was talking to another girl just before I went on holiday. My friends helped me through and by the end of the trip I’d stopped noticing his calls” – Sarah Carton
