deathcrash - 'Doomcrash'
A third and final preview before the eagerly awaited release of the band’s debut album Return, deathcrash presents Doomcrash; a prime example of the raw beauty in cacophany.
The London slowcore 4 piece deathcrash are releasing their debut album, Return, which will arrive on 28 January via untitled (recs). We’ve heard three tracks from the upcoming album so far, a concise showcase of the band’s talent for quality and diversity: The hauntingly beautiful and hopeful ‘Horses’, a return to form in the driving and distorted ‘Unwind’, and now their most recent release of ‘Doomcrash’.
‘Doomcrash’ builds slowly and patiently, wrapping the listener in a warm post-rock gloom before punching through into one of the heaviest moments on the upcoming album. The vocals are delicate, but deliberate, and help weave a vast atmosphere that persists throughout the track. Clocking in at almost 9 minutes, Doomcrash takes its time to adjust and evolve, and is all the better for it. There is a matured cohesiveness felt from the band that culminates into the huge wall of sound that draws Doomcrash to a close.
A must-listen for any fans of Slint, deathcrash treats us to a brooding song that has us eagerly awaiting the upcoming release of the album Return on January 28th. If what we’ve heard is anything to go by, this is one to watch out for.
