Introducing #255 - JASONWATERFALLS

Rocking and punching pop rock outfit JASONWATERFALLS have just released their new EP ‘The Great Masquerade’ and have just embarked on a tour through their home country of the Netherlands, time to introduce you to the four-piece!

With the release of their EP and the kick-off of their Dutch tour with pop punk band The Overslept the band are slowly but surely taking over the Dutch rock scene by storm, their undeniably infectious pop rock tunes will be stuck in your head for days after listening.

Hi Jasonwaterfalls! Your EP 'The Great Masquerade' is out now - can you tell us what it is about?
The Great Masquerade was written during the COVID pandemic and the start of the war in Ukraine. We just released our previous EP and our tour was cancelled several times. It made us wonder if we could ever play live music again and if so, would it still be the same? And were we willing to wait? Our fantasies about the state of tomorrow's world heavily influenced our lyrics and melodies. ‘The Great Masquerade’ is written from a dystopian perspective. The EP features six tracks, each depicting different aspects of life in a post-apocalyptic setting. For instance, the third single, ‘BONES’, is a heavy, pop-driven song portraying the sudden shift in existential priorities in life when faced with adversity.

Where are you from and what are your favourite things to do there?
We’re from Utrecht, in the centre of the Netherlands. It’s a smaller, more cosy version of Amsterdam with canals, great live music venues and restaurants. Besides playing music we love to have a couple of craft beers in one of the local breweries.

What are the key influences when it comes to your music?
Our sound is influenced by bands such as DON BROCO, You Me At Six, Enter Shikari, Bring Me The Horizon, but also Jimmy Eat World.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never listened to your music before?
JASONWATERFALLS is best described as a vibrant, energetic blend of thick metal riffs, dirty 80’s synth lines and sweet pop vocals.

Now the EP is out there - what next for you?
‘The Great Masquerade’ was released on the 18th of November and marked the start of our tour. The next few weeks we’ll play throughout the Netherlands promoting our new EP and start making plans for 2023. Hopefully we can cross the canal next year and get the UK to get acquainted with JASONWATERFALLS!
