Toronto’s indie rock juggernauts MONOWHALES are back with their brand new single ’CTRL^^^’ - which is the first teaser of music their upcoming sophomore album ‘Tunnel Vision’.
Since bursting on to the scene with 2017’s ‘Control Freak’ EP, the group — vocalist Sally Shaar, guitarist Zach Zanardo and drummer Jordan Circosta — have been defying the odds: self-releasing a stream of earworm-inducing bangers that have lit up Canada’s Alternative rock charts. In equal parts dark and charismatic, “CTRL^^^” is a declaration of independence the stomping drum beat that drives the track makes for an effortlessly cool sound. With lead singer Sally Shaar’s raw lyricism likening the discomfort she feels opening up to people as well as her coming to terms with her Syrian origins.

"This video was created to be an unapologetic and even a cold declaration of independence. We found a new appreciation for what it means to accept yourself for all that you are. The word 'Control' usually has a bad reputation. We want to turn that reputation around and claim it for all the good it can do when you are self-aware about how to use it." - explains vocalist Sally Shaar.
