Festival News: New month, new lineup, same ol’ brilliant Slammy D.
New month, new lineup, same ol’ brilliant Slammy D.
After the unfortunate news that The Mighty Mighty Bosstones have disbanded again and so won’t be playing Slam Dunk 2022, the folks over at Slam Dunk took the precaution of announcing another host of brilliant bands to further spice up the lineup - and, although the names of the ska great’s substitutes haven’t been released yet, there’s still a hell of a lot to be excited for.
The Queen’s Jubilee Weekend is really starting to heat up for all you pop punk fans out there. Just before Slam Dunk proper comes the previously announced You Me At Six’s Sinners Never Sleep anniversary shows, as well as launch parties headlined by Mayday Parade. That’s before Slam Dunk even starts, before Sum41, Alexisonfire and co take the stage. Yet that hasn’t stopped the Slam Dunk organisers from adding yet more fuel to the fire.
Joining the near 50 bands already announced comes the likes of metal core behemoths Beartooth — who, notably, join the already announced Silverstein (Silvertooth anyone??) — the hardcore heroes Counterparts, the chaotically catchy 3OH!3, the superb Set It Off — finally gracing our shores once more after countless Covid cancellations — the energetically effervescent Aussie quartet With Confidence, and heavy-rock and hip-hop revolutionaries Nova Twins, fresh off winning yet another Heavy Music Award, along with being nominated for “Best Band In The World” in this year’s NME awards. Meanwhile, Slam Dunk 2022 plays host to the UK debuts for both Magnolia Park and Lil Lotus, making the days even more special.
Slam Dunk 2022 is lining up to be a royally good iteration. Don’t Wait to buy tickets in case you’re left Wish(ing) You Were Here with Neck Deep and the rest of us in Leeds and Hatfield in June!
