Introducing #204 - lozeak
Let us introduce you to London based grunge-pop newcomer lozeak - who has just released her arena ready anthem - ‘Hate Me Too’.
With her signature cherry-red hair and thick brows, lozeak has already cultivated a huge online following off the back of her covers and TikTok videos (over 557k followers and 45 million likes). Now she is showing that she has a sound all of her own, and the capabilities to create big, diaristic pop music with a scuzzy edge to it. Her music is winning over famous fans, with Bring Me The Horizon’s Oli Sykes, Radio 1’s Jack Saunders and Frank Carter all championing her sound.
She took a moment to talk to us about her music.
Hey there lozeak, how are you? So you have a new track called ‘Hate Me Too’ - can you tell us what it is about?
Heeey i’m good fanks!! Yeaaah, I wrote hate me too about loosing a friendship. The whole song is in a sarcastic tone pretending that I would “hate me too” if I was my mate. In the song i’m pretending to talk to a ex friend & exaggerating everything “i’ve done”, kinda just joking around the whole time and taking the piss. When I started going to London at 16 to work on my music I felt like I lost a lot of friends from Norwich (where I grew up) because I was so busy & didn’t go home often, I found it frustrating when nobody understood at the time but writing angry songs like Hate me too made me feel better about it.
You are based in London, what are your favourite things to do in the city? Where do you go for music adventures?
Because I grew up in Norwich my whole life and only moved to London around 4 months ago, London as a whole is just really fun!! I love going out with my mates & going for food in east, Brick Lane is one of my favourite places for a day out. Usually nights out give me a lot of concepts to write about.
What are your main influences with your music?
Definitely WILLOW at the moment, i’m so obsessed with all of her stuff. But mostly 2000s punk pop, like Avril Lavigne, t.A.T.u and Gwen stafani. I also take lots of inspiration from Travis barker, and newer artists like Glaive.
What are your earliest childhood memories when it comes to music?
My earliest childhood memory of music was definitely making up dances to Madonna songs to perform to my family. I also remember my parents playing me the Mark Ronsons album Version, which is how I discovered radiohead from the “Just” cover. I was also obsessed with Amy Winehouse, at a super young age like 5 or something, my mum would push me round tesco in a trolly and she said i’d always be singing rehab. haha.
Now your track is out there, what next for you?
World domination. lol nah just loads more tracks to come & lots of live stuff this year !!
