Live Review: Crawlers - Camden Assembly, London 08/04/2022

Liverpool rock outfit Crawlers are one of the most exciting new British bands searing their way through the scene, so when the opportunity arose to see them live, we jumped at the chance; taking a trip to London’s Camden Assembly to see some feisty rock n roll!

First support this evening came from newbie Hannah Grae, who admitted that this was her 2nd ever live show, which was a surprise to us and the rest of the audience the way she controlled the stage and belted out some fantastic songs throughout her set! With how young Hannah Grae is, her songs emitted a pure rawness to them, describing her emotions and thoughts on school, heartbreak and the male gaze. A truly phenomenal voice and performance this evening from Hannah.

Next up this evening was punky rock duo TASH, who came blasting onto stage and took no time to get involved and warm the venue up! Lead singer Tara was instantly jumping around the stage, throwing kicks and getting close and personal with the front row. The heavily guitar driven rock-pop tunes went down like a cold drink on a swelteringly hot day, everyone was loving TASH tonight, a personal favorite of ours was ‘Chase’! During the set a young girl sadly fainted but TASH handled it perfectly and stopped their set until she was okay, a band that looks after its fans is a noteworthy band in our books! With the slight disruption in the set, they only had time for one more song and when it was put to a vote, the “stupidly heavy” tune was the obvious winner of course, finishing their set with ‘Hurricane Man’ and jumping into the crowd to join us all in the mosh pit was a brilliant way to conclude the set.

By this time people were itching for the headline act, thankfully Crawlers quickly satisfied that itch. As the band took to the stage and started playing, lead singer Holly made their way through the packed audience, singing as they went, the crowd going nuts at being so close to their favorite band! ‘MONROE’ was the 2nd track on the setlist this evening and screams bellowed from the audience as we quickly realized, Holly gliding round the stage like their shoes had wings as they belted out the chorus! Crawlers are a band you can tell love their fans unconditionally and the love is reciprocated back by everyone tonight, songs like ‘Hush’ and ‘So Tired’ going down an absolute storm; ‘Come Over (Again)’ hit everyone in their feelings and had every single person screaming back the lyrics like their lives depended on it.

After a short break and a few sad moans from the crowd, Crawlers rose back onto stage to our excitement, it somehow got even more electric in the venue as a marriage proposal happened during ‘I Can’t Drive’ (this was the 2nd engagement of this tour, if you can believe that). Crawlers played out the evening with fan favorite ‘Placebo’ which was greatly received, a truly special affair in London tonight, Crawlers outdid themselves and it solidified their place as one of the most brilliant bands that the UK has offered up recently!
