Franc Moody - 'I’m in a Funk'

Captivating and irresistable, Franc Moody is back in full swing with dance track ‘I’m in a Funk’ - reaching new heights while assuring audiences that they’re more grounded than they’ve ever been.

Franc Moody returns with ‘I’m in a Funk’, in anticipation of their upcoming sophomore album. Fresh yet comfortingly familiar, the second single off the new record draws from classic disco and house musicalities - bringing together a stellar track that oozes funk. With fun and titillating rhythms, the track showcases innovative production that leans toward an ease and assurance that is classic of the group’s discography.

The band embraces their stirring mix of disco, electronic and pop that has amassed a loyal following in the UK. Their feel-good dancefloor sound, according to them, is “reminiscent of the best party you’ve never been to.” This single brings back those same sensibilities; but this time thinking about turning inwards while pushing boundaries around them. Franc Moody uses R&B harmonies layered over a groovy bassline to create an exciting single that is contemporary, organic and alluring.

On the single, they share, “I’m In A Funk’ was a song born in the heart of lockdown when we had to write remotely, sending bits of music to each other,” comment Franc Moody. ”The vocal we wanted to be 3-piece harmony, inspired by R&B groups like TLC. Lyrically we channelled the collective feelings of being cooped up, unable to see loved ones, and unable to do the things we’d normally do. As the song came together the production began to naturally lean towards hip-hop breaks of the 90s, folks like LCD Soundsystem, and of course Prince.

With a lockdown era we’re collectively recovering from, the track is on-brand with the new spade of music inspired by reflection and new ways of being. Pandemic stricken, Franc Moody had kept busy - throwing online parties, selling merch and getting involved with the Music Venues Trust fundraiser. Now returning to some semblance of normalcy, their sophomore album comes after the success of their debut, Dream in Colour - with their name still fresh in the minds of the UK’s scene. This time, Franc Moody tells us that they have more to give.
