Bow Anderson – ‘Selfish’
Bow Anderson celebrates the power of newfound self-respect following a breakup, in new pop anthem ‘Selfish’.
After her viral hit ‘20s’, which amassed over 3.9 million views on TikTok and 11 million global streams, Scottish-born singer-songwriter Bow Anderson has quickly gained recognition within the music world. From touring with Ella Eyre, Mimi Webb, and Tom Walker, to receiving support from a multitude of platforms including Notion, The Line of Best Fit, and The Guardian, Bow has achieved significant success in music already, despite only releasing her first single ‘Sweater’ in March 2020.
‘Selfish’ is Bow’s latest release, inspired by her experience of an ex lover asking to support her on tour. Although, the underlying meaning of the song is much broader, with the importance of self-worth being prevalent throughout the track. As Bow states, the song centres around the wider need for others to treat you with respect, and being able to recognise when this is not the case. The ‘Selfish’ music video was released on 1st July, and ironically depicts Bow in the role of a ‘60s housewife with a modern lens. Combining catchy pop melodies with Bow’s impressive vocals has resulted in Selfish being added to BBC Radio 1’s ‘Best New Pop’ playlist.
With Bow’s postponed May headline show awaiting rescheduling, and numerous festival appearances over the summer, it seems that the pop artist has a lot planned for the rest of the year.
