Courting - ‘Jumper’

Back with their latest experimental cut ‘Jumper’ that ambitiously pushes the boundaries of rock into the indie-pop soundscape, Courting are proving their ability to stand out as a band. The Liverpudlian quartet have made a name for themselves with their ferocious blend of stand-out songwriting and colourful instrumentation.
Speaking on the new single, frontman Murphy-O’Neill says, “Jumper is an outlier on the album. It is a gentle story of true unrequited love, meant to playout like a 2006 romcom. It is about growing old and believing everything will fall into place.”
A self-proclaimed “pop moment”, ‘Jumper’ finds it’s home as one of Courting’s more unique ventures into indie soundscapes, opting for a softer narrative with a more melodic approach to their usual brash rock sound.
Lamenting on mundane, everyday topics (“you can do the dishes”) with overt romantic undertones, the cut evokes nostalgia of early 00’s pop-punk numbers. The quartet nod to love making everything feel that bit more exciting with “Maybe we could get a mortgage someday… I always thought that sounded boring to me, but I don’t mind”, in an ode to growing old and settling down. Filled with punchy guitar lines and an infectious percussive beat ‘Jumper’ is a worthy addition to Courting’s discography.
‘Jumper’ is taken from their hotly anticipated upcoming debut album, Guitar Music, due out 23rd September.
