In Conversation With #212 - Havet
German/Swedish teenage siblings Havet have just released their debut EP ‘Muma’s Lullaby’.
HAVET was Born and raised in Bavaria, Germany, to their singer & multi-instrumentalist parents, so music has always been a part of their lives. Their sound draws upon influences in pop, R&B, folk, and indie styles along with their experiences playing in bands with their friends growing up. They cite Billie Eillish, Billie Marten, Daniel Caesar, Bruno Major and Tyler The Creator as artists they are inspired by.
They took a moment to talk to us about how the EP came together.
Hey there Havet - how are you? So your EP is out now - how does it feel to have it out there in the world?
It feels amazing to finally share with you the music we’ve been working on for so long. We’re so excited to start this new journey.
It is called ‘Muma’s Lullaby’ - what is the meaning behind that?
Our favorite song from the EP is Mamas Lullaby. But most importantly this EP feels so familiar and close to our hearts, just like a mother's lullaby.
Where was it recorded? Any behind the scenes stories from the creative process you are happy to share with us?
We recorded the EP in Berlin at our producers Klaus Sahms and David Thorntons studios. A funny moment we all remember was when we ordered insane amounts of crispy chicken for Josy. But most of all the two guys are just really fun to be around, and we enjoyed every session a lot.
What are the key themes and influences on the EP?
Every song on the EP has a different vibe and is influenced by numerous artists from different genres. The five songs are like a coming of age movie, discussing themes such as heartbreak, toxic relationships, love, loneliness and sadness.
If the EP could be the soundtrack to any film - which one would it be and why?
Probably the Series ‘The end of the fucking world’ or ‘Skins’.
Do you have a favorite lyric on the EP - if so, which one and why?
Because every song talks about different things and different emotions, and each lyrics has a different vibe to it, it`s hard to decide which one is our favorite.
Now the EP is out there - what next?
We would love to perform our music much more and we definitely want to keep on making and releasing songs.
