Role Model - 'cross your mind'

Role Model celebrates being young and lovestruck, in addictive new pop-rock single, ‘cross your mind’.

Los Angeles-based Tucker Pillsbury, who goes by the stage name ‘Role Model’, has amassed a significant following since his musical debut in 2017. The 25-year-old’s career began with a number of early independent singles, which gained him co-signs with various renowned names, including Benny Blanco and Mac Miller. Since then, the alt-pop artist has released 3 EPs, the most recent being his ‘our little angel’ EP, which includes the single ‘blind’, which gained worldwide recognition and boasts over 80 million streams on Spotify alone. The talents of the singer-songwriter, who is also an instrumentalist and producer, have resulted in support from a wide range of platforms, including Billboard, NYLON, People, and more.

After releasing his debut album ‘Rx’ in April, which comprised of 11 non-traditional love songs, Role Model quickly began his world tour to accompany the new record, ‘TOURx 2022’. Despite the tour not coming to an end until later this year, the multi-talented artist has just released his new single ‘cross your mind’. The record was premiered at Outside Lands in early August, and is the Maine-born artist’s first release since his album. Co-produced by Jonah Shu and Scott Harris (Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, Niall Horan), who also co-wrote the record, ‘cross your mind’, combines catchy pop-rock hooks with Role Model’s authentic and relatable lyricism.

The highly anticipated new single perfectly encapsulates the all-consuming effect of young love, as Tucker describes his longing to be with someone, and fantasises about life with them. This sense of hopefulness and excitement for the future characterises the Risky-Business-inspired ‘cross your mind’ music video, which follows Tucker, as he parades around an extravagant suburban home in loungewear. Directed by Dylan Knight, the one-man performance becomes more flamboyant and expressive as the track progresses, cleverly complimenting the desire to catch someone’s attention, which seems to underlie the record.

With UK/EU tour dates scheduled for early September, and an additional Fall tour which has just been announced, it seems that Role Model has a lot planned for the coming months.
