CloseUp // Track of the Month #008 // Syren - ‘Oyster’
Gig season is returning, and we can’t wait. Darker evenings and busy venues everywhere, it’s going to be fun. September also marks our next WTBH TOTM, and this month we’ve chosen Syren’s new single ‘Oyster’ to take the title. Summery, short and sweet, the alternative hip-hop cut once again showcases the West London artist’s versatility.
Released on the last day of August, and for fans of Future, Lil Peep & more, Oyster really defines the soloists back catalogue. Syren has been making waves in the underground with sold out shows (LDN’s O2 Islington) & support dates (Medhane, tmdistant), all whilst releasing 2x mixtapes and gaining nods from Spotify & more. A unique artist in the making, we’re excited to see what comes next from the mysterious multi-genre act.
Speaking about the song, Syren said: "I wanted to make a song for the summer, something that encapsulates all those emotions but still keeps it’s tempo and bounce. Making the song fairly short was intentional, as I always feel like summer is annoyingly short, but with an immense replay factor".
