Eloise - 'Therepist'
Eloise releases new single, ‘Therapist’ for the upcoming album, ‘Drunk on a Flight’ which will be followed by her UK and Europe tour.
Eloise’s 2019 debut EP, ‘This Thing Called Living’ introduced the world to her entrancing, honeyed tones. That received support from Billie Elish who covered ‘Subside’ on Instagram. Which was followed 2 years later with the EP release of ‘Somewhere In-Between' which is a deeply romantic, nine track collection recorded with Bruno Major. ‘Somewhere In-Between' was billed as “growing pains EP”, where Eloise explored emotional grey areas and blended the warmth of acoustic guitar with electronic production.
‘Therapist’ is a whip-smart “diss track” which skewers emotional co-dependency with kiss- off lines, ‘You’re acting like a boy, but I fell for a man.’ The emotional honest across the album stems from Eloise’s personal experience with love, from being in love, falling out of love and to breaking up and learning lessons you can glean from that relationship rollercoaster. She explains that ending a long-term relationship at 23, makes you feel that you lost time and adolescence, and the frustration that comes with this. Eloise continues “What have I learned from all of this? And what am I stuck with at the end of all of this? My song writing has always been honest, but this feels raw – like I’m exploring all the shades of emotion.”
The upcoming album, ‘Drunk on a Flight’ is produced by Conor Albert a is a coming-of-age album, about embracing the moment; a heartbreak record that will empower listeners to luxuriate in their feelings, however messy or complicated they may be. As the Billie Eilish and Burt Bacharach- approved star puts that this, “is the sound of me putting my flag in the ground as an artist.”
Throughout ‘Drunk on a Flight’, Eloise’s supple, feather-light coo imbues material with a comforting timelessness as well as an impressive universality, despite the confessional lyrics that deal daringly in specifics. For Eloise, ‘Drunk on a Flight’ will always represent the rewards of embracing the chaos of the universe, of leaping into the unknown proving that life is a succession of sliding door moments of split-second decisions. Each of these shaping your path and influencing the person that you become and the future you will inhabit.
