Kyoto Kyoto - 'So'
The otherworldly new wave slash rock sound Kyoto Kyoto has manufactured is slowly spreading like wildfire. Their latest is a single and video for ‘So’, released via Blitzcat Records.
The London-based band unveiled ‘So’ ahead of their headline show on the 5th of April at The Lexington in London. Their live show promises to be as decimating as their latest, a sight to look forward to! Kyoto Kyoto creates destruction in the form of rough and punching rock tracks that are driven by uncompromising and visceral soundscapes a la System Of A Down.
About this all-consuming new punk rock track, the band said: “‘So’ means “like this” in German. The text is about how serious specific and ill-considered decisions about people can be. Small decisions that are not properly thought through or behaviour that is damaging in any way, shape or form can have consequences (personally) far into the future. As with art and “larger than life” work, human relationships are also about priority and maturity and context.”
They described the recording process of ‘So’ as “intense” and that shines through on the final mixes, with its ferocious and overwhelmingly dark sound. Despite having only just emerged onto the scene, the band have already performed overseas at Rotterdam’s Left Of The Dial festival and were shown support from BBC Radio 6!
Kyoto Kyoto show maturity in conveying their message and creating a sound that must be heard, they demand attention through dark and tensive vocals, and the raucous soundscapes they burst out. They come from the scene of DEADLETTER, Opun Kick and Folly Group and have managed to become the noisiest of the current experimental groups that are breaking through in the UK right this minute. Theirs is kraut-inspired progressive noise rock at its most interesting and adventurous.
