Bully - 'Days Move Slow'
Bully pays a very grungy tribute to her dearly departed dog in her latest track ‘Days Move Slow’.
Releasing a steady flow of LPs since 2014’s self titled album, ‘Bully’ is the solo project of Alicia Bognanno. The Nashville resident has rarely strayed far from the 90’s inspired grunge / alt-rock she has become known for. This new release, ‘Days Move Slow’ keeps this theme alive. The new track pays tribute to Alicia’s recently deceased dog, ‘Mezzi’, which also serves as the title for the upcoming album this single is a part of.
Right off the bat, the opening guitar riff is unmistakably taken straight from the 90’s. While this song would certainly be defined as grunge or alt-rock, the pop sensibilities of these genres that have gained them continuous popularity are present in this track, from the distorted guitar line to the incredibly catchy hook. The drumming, bass work and crunchy solo are no exception to the pure grunginess of this song, something that fans of the genre will immediately be able to identify. Melodically, Bully is at the top of her game; an ear worm of a chorus is not uncommon in alt-rock songs but it is well known that the same tracks often suffer from lack-lustre verses as the artist attempts to speed their way to the main event. Thankfully this is not the case here, with versus continuously building on the themes and momentum the rest of the tune contains.
