Blood Command - 'Losing Faith'
Norwegian rockers Blood Command show off their versatility with their latest release ‘Losing Faith’, an untypical acoustic number which perfectly demonstrates their talent.
Since their arrival onto the alternative rock scene some years ago, Blood Command have become known for their heavy tracks, with thrashing guitars and big drum sounds. The latest release is a world away from these tracks, yet still perfectly captures the ability of the group, as well as the message that they’re trying to convey.
‘Losing Faith’ is said to be a track about the shame and grief that comes with unrequited love. These sincere feelings can certainly be felt through the vocal performances of both Guitarist Yngve Andersen as well as lead vocalist Nikki Brumen, ad they combine in the latest release giving listeners a real two-sided feel to the lyrics.
‘Am I gonna feel like this forever? Just wanna die when you’re together.’ The true emotions of these lyrics are brilliantly expressed in the highly emotive track. The acoustic nature of it makes for a real prominence of the words.
Accompanying the track which holds such strong emotions is an equally thought-provoking music video. Like the song itself, it is back to basics, there’s not a plethora of things going on. In fact, it mainly follows both the lead guitarist and vocalist, who are dressed in outfits reminiscent of Cowboys. For the most part, the pair are separated and are not in shot together, which seems to be a truly clever piece of filming, as this physical separation mirrors the metaphorical separation spoken about in the track itself. It really feels to be a clever video.
It culminates in a shoot-out between the pair at the end, where both parties fall to the ground, as the song closes out. A brilliantly metaphorical piece of film to accompany a truly heartfelt track!
As veterans of the game, it’s no surprise that Blood Command have given fans yet another great track. Despite being different to much of their discography, ‘Losing Faith’ is as from the heart as you can get with a song, and it’s a number that the group can be proud of!
