Hailing from HItchin - Hertfordshire four piece second thoughts have just released their new single ‘somebody to talk about’. Their refreshing take on indie-rock comes with a dash of nostalgia and tinges of pop and alt-rock and has been lauded by fans and media alike.
“somebody to talk about” is another irresistible offering by second thoughts. Playful drums, glistening guitar lines and irresistible vocal melodies can all be found within the track. The single has elements of nostalgia, playfulness and vibrancy, and encapsulates old and new influences, merging together to create a unique and infectious sound. They took a moment to talk to us about the inspirations behind their music.
Who are your top three musical inspirations and why?
The La’s, The Lemonheads and Radiohead because we love the combination of acoustic and distorted guitar.
Is there a certain film that inspires you and why?
Any coming of age film, Ladybird is really cool!
What city do you find the most inspiring and why?
London probably. There’s lots of exciting music stuff going on there and the venues are great.
Who is the most inspiring person to you and why?
David Bowie’s resilience throughout his early years to get to where he ended up is pretty inspiring.
What were your inspirations when writing your new track?
It’s the first song we’ve done with an acoustic guitar and that was as a result of the inspirations mentioned earlier.
How would you like to inspire people?
To inspire them to get into making music! It’s very fun.
