Bring Me The Horizon - 'LosT'
Sheffield’s own Bring Me The Horizon bounce back with the release of long awaited new single ‘LosT’.
‘LosT’ is the latest addition to the bands critically acclaimed Post Human series from 2020 while headlining their European tour, and following their two previous singles ‘DiE4u’ and ‘Strangers’. But this single feels a lot more hard hitting and personal, in the best possible way.
The track travels through multiple different genres, with influences of electronic, pop punk, indie rock and early 2000’s rock. Frontman Oli Sykes cited both My Chemical Romance and The Strokes as heavy influences for ‘LosT’, a combination that on paper sounds strange, but works like an absolute charm.
Lyrically, the song sticks out as perhaps one of the bands most personal, with mentions of self doubt, suicidal thoughts and drug abuse; the chorus opens with a powerful roar of ‘why am I this way?’ with an incredible vocal performance from Sykes. The frontman revealed he was scared to release the single as he was nervous for the world to hear such an honest and raw track stating it was like ‘having a therapy session with myself’, but I’m certain the world is all the better for hearing it; giving an incredible sense of relatability and truth.
Despite the tracks vulnerable and sincere lyrics, ‘LosT’ manages to still be triumphantly upbeat and confident, showing Bring Me The Horizon’s ability to be a truly innovative and boundary pushing band. It’s fair to say fans will be over the moon with the lads new single and equally gnarly, cinematic music video, and with whispers of a new album and sequel to ‘Post Human’, we’re all itching to hear what else they have in store for us.
