Ten Tonnes precedes his upcoming record with the simply beautiful single ‘Lone Star’
After the success of the singer-songwriter’s first album a few years back, he is set to release his sophomore attempt, titled ‘Dancing, Alone’. The new single becomes the third to be released ahead of the LP later this year. He has certainly drawn attention to the record with these, and ‘Lone Star’ is a track which will really grip listeners.
It’s a slow, and thoughtful number. The track, like its accompanying video, is so simple and yet it’s so incredibly effective. The beautiful acoustic guitar compliments the singer’s soft tone, and the audience is sure to be completely fixated on Ten Tonnes.
The video that comes with the single is the perfect match. It’s black and white, and centres around a mirror ball which rotates as the track plays. The simplicity and sincerity of the song itself really is reflected in the video: there’s nothing extravagant happening, it’s completely humble and honest.
Ten Tonnes has stated that the track is influenced by some of his favourite songs of the 50s and early 60s, and he mentioned the purity in the songs which influenced this one. That purity is carried into his work tenfold. ‘Lone Star’ is definitely up there with the most wholesome numbers you’ll hear this year.
The track is a carefully crafted lyrical masterpiece, with words that are sure to hit home with many people. The cleverness and imagery created is undeniable. ‘All I hear is the sound of two hearts beating as one’. Ten Tonnes has once again shown his brilliance when it comes to song writing.
The artist has a run of live dates coming up in September, when fans will have been able to hear the new record in its entirety. ‘Lone Star’ will surely feature at these shows.
Fans should look forward to it, as it’s a beautiful number that has come straight from the heart.
