Inspired #410 - Georgie O’Brien

Fresh from releasing her last single ‘High’ - singer-songwriter Georgie O’Brien has caught our attention once more with infectious electro-pop gem ‘All Eyes On You’.

Produced by Indigo Eyes, ‘All Eyes On You’ follows the release of Georgie and Indigo Eyes’ previous singles ‘Cross Your Mind’ and ‘Jaded’ which featured on Indigo Eyes’ debut EP and has landed over 2.8 Million streams on Spotify to date. Combining elements of pop, UK Garage and trap with electronic beats and slick production, the track is about how people can be love blind when they drink alcohol.

She took a moment to talk to us about the inspirations behind her music.

Who are your top three musical inspirations and why?
First has got to be Salute, his use of old school sampling that suddenly transitions into really synth heavy drops is stunning. Fred Again, of course, the amount of emotion in his music is crazy. Lastly I’d say TIBASKO, watching them ascend through the ranks of the U.K. dance music scene has been amazing, they’re such talented guys and seem to create tracks so seamlessly. (Indigo Eyes)

Is there a certain film that inspires you and why?
I’m not massively into films. I think I’m too adhd to concentrate, haha. But honestly Star Wars hits every time, plus I love the deeper meanings behind everything regarding energy etc. Also the music in Star Wars!? I mean wow.  (Georgie O’Brien)

What city do you find the most inspiring and why?
Luckily my home city, London. There’s just so much happening here, amazing nightlife, talented musicians everywhere, and even though it rains a lot it just makes you appreciate the sun even more! Also the gloomy weather sometimes helps with writing heavy electronic tunes. (Indigo Eyes)

Who is the most inspiring person to you and why?
I don't think I can pick one person. I’m really grateful to have such a loving family and to have truly incredible people in my life; I’m inspired by different people every day. Sometimes someone close like my brother, a friend or my therapist, perhaps another creative or a spiritual teacher. I also get really moved or inspired by people I don't know, special encounters with strangers out and about are always magical. (Georgie O’Brien)

What were your inspirations when writing your new track?
Party culture and toxic relationships. Wanting someone even though they’re bad for you and being in awe of their presence. I find human behaviour fascinating and I think it’s so strange how people so often want what they know they shouldn’t. (Indigo Eyes)

How would you like to inspire people?
I want to show people that you don’t need a big label or 15 minutes of social media fame to make a living doing what you love. If you focus on making your music better and moving people with what you write, it’ll always pay off. (Indigo Eyes)
