Greta Van Fleet - ‘Farewell For Now’
Michigan born rockers Greta Van Fleet make a triumphant return with their new single ‘Farewell For Now’.
After two years, the sublime sound of brothers, Josh, Jake and Sam Kiszka and drummer Danny Wagner are sounding as seventies as ever on their newly released single. Following two previously released tracks ‘Sacred The Thread’ and ‘Meeting The Master’, ‘Farewell For Now’ is said to be about “the sentiment of our longing to stay onstage and savour the magic created by the audience-music phenomena”. An idea you can undoubtedly hear on the track, with the lyrics sounding like they are talking directly to their audience, full of appreciation and gratitude.
The track opens with a gentle Lindsey Buckingham style guitar riff, before being launched into those heavy drums the band are renowned for. Listening to this single made me imagine how incredible it is going to sound live, with the glitzy guitar solo and lead singer Josh’s killer vocals and classic screams - only to find out it exists! The band released an exclusive live performance video of the new single, and it’s everything you could hope for.
With a track so personal and audience directed, only begs the question of whether the band will perform it as their closer live; especially as the song is the last track on their upcoming album ‘Starcatcher’ which is set to release July 21st. Speaking of which, you can catch Greta Van Fleet on their upcoming US tour which will run until early December, as well as performing alongside heavy metal gods Metallica in Mexico City next September.
‘Farewell For Now’ is Greta Van Fleet at their very best, and a glamorous and electrifying sneak preview at what's to come from their new record ‘Starcatcher’.
