L Devine - 'If I Don't Laugh, I'll Cry'
L Devine shares new single ‘If I Don’t Laugh I’ll Cry’ ahead of debut album ‘Digital Heartifacts’ and her 2024 UK headline tour.
2024 will no doubt be the year that L Devine’s undoubted potential is fully realised with the release of her long-awaited debut album ‘Digital Heartifacts’. With previous singles by L Devine reaching support from Radio 1 and a new wave of tastemaker attention, she shares her new single, ‘If I Don’t Laugh I’ll Cry’.
This new amazing single is symptomatic of L Devine’s ability to translate moments of relatable self-doubt and vulnerability into compelling and escapist alt-pop. This single sits on the precipice between cracking and harmony, it is a song that she wrote while sinking into one of the lowest and moments of her life, which questions how can you hope to escape the inner confusion that circles at such a moment? She says, “If I Don’t Laugh I’ll Cry’ is about the sweet spot between having a mental breakdown and total liberation. It’s a proper insight into my personality, I usually cope with my struggles and insecurities by finding humour in them.”
This track is a perfect example of the L Devine’s talented skills, as the record is full of astutely written pop but one that is unafraid to dive into life’s more unsettling emotions, which goes with her characteristic flair for self-deprecating humour and sharp observations on real life experiences. With other recent singles from, ‘Slippin Away’, ‘Laundry Day’, ‘Push it Down’ and ‘MIscommunikaty’, have further proved and confirmed L Devine’s status as a pop star to be reckoned with, as she lives up to praise from star names such as Charli XCX, Dua Lipa, Sam Fender and Lewis Capaldi.
After L Devine played an intimate sold-out tour late last year, she showcased her ever-strengthening powers as a live performer with a live session of the single ‘Slippin Away’, which was filed for ‘Abbey Road’s Equalise’ programme which aims to illuminate a diverse range of queer voices across music and the wider creative arts. L Devines’ reputation as a vital new voice in the LGBTQ+ community is already established add the Gay Times’ Elevate Emerging Star in Music awards.
L Devine will be unstoppable this year and for many years to come, as this April she will be celebrating ‘Digital Heartifacts’ by embarking upon a UK headline tour.
