The Lemon Twigs - 'My Golden Years'

Seven days into 2024 and The Lemon Twigs may have released the best song of the year…

The Brothers D’Addario are back with a swing with the ever so joyous single ‘My Golden Years’.

Gleaming new single ‘My Golden Years’ by The Lemon Twigs is yet another delightful feather in the duo’s hat. It is no surprise that brothers Brian and Michael have dropped another banger of a track, it is a surprise however that its release is so soon into the new year - please lads, a heads up next time, I need time to prepare for such charming tunes.

As always, the Twigs’ new single is dripping in exquisite production, with across the board greatness like the sunshiney guitar riff and the bands statement, glorious harmonies. Taking lead vocals is younger brother Michael, whose ability to fluctuate between soft and angelic to gritty and raw with his voice is a match made in heaven for a song like this.

The band have commented on their newest release, stating that it is a perfect track for those who like to hike, or exercise. Although I am not keen on either, I must say it does make the ever so painful walk up the massive hill to work feel like walking through a field of roses. It’s catchy, and cheerful and feels like a self reflection for the band, looking back at how far they’ve come in their career, and how the lives they’re living right now will be their fondest memories in many years to come.

If you would like an equally endearing music video to go along with this track, you are in luck! As well as their new single, the Twigs also released a wonderfully comedic, 60’s inspired video to match. Directed by Ambar Navarro and starring the four piece iteration - the same that have accompanied the brothers on their most recent tour - it encompasses their playful demeanour and gives nods to their two most important influences; The Beatles and The Monkees.

Overall, ‘My Golden Years’ is yet another delightful addition to The Lemon Twigs’ catalogue. If you want to feel like it’s summer in January, give this tremendous track a whirl.
