Overpass - 'Be Good To Yourself'

Overpass release their uplifting new single ‘Be Good To Yourself,’ ahead of their EP Dependent.

Emerging from the vibrant Birmingham music scene, overpass are quickly establishing themselves as one of the most exciting indie acts in the UK. Their latest single, ‘Be Good To Yourself,’ is a tantalising glimpse into their forthcoming EP Dependent, set for release on February 28, 2025, via Communion Records.

The single combines anthemic melodies with poignant lyricism, capturing the essence of the band’s mission: to resonate deeply with listeners while fostering a sense of self-love and acceptance. It showcases frontman Max Newy’s ability to blend vulnerability with an uplifting message, addressing the challenges of self-worth in a chaotic world, while encouraging listeners to be gentle with themselves amidst life’s pressures.

This theme of introspection is coupled with overpass’ signature sound - infectious guitar riffs and euphoric choruses that are both relatable and expansive. It’s clear that the band has honed their craft, constructing an energetic anthem that feels both personal and universally appealing.

The release of this single comes on the heels of an incredible start to 2024 for the band, following the success of their debut EP From the Night. With notable support from critics and music fans alike, their music has already reached a wide audience, and they have made a significant impact with sold-out shows across the UK. Their live performances are a testament to their growing fanbase, as they deliver high-octane sets that leave audiences buzzing and eager for more.

As they gear up for their Spring 2025 headline tour, including key dates at London’s Scala and the O2 Institute in Birmingham, the anticipation surrounding overpass is palpable. Their commitment to developing a genuine connection with their audience stands out in a music industry often driven by metrics. “When you see loads of people in front of you singing your songs back - that’s real,” says Max, encapsulating the authentic spirit of the band.

The forthcoming EP promises to delve deeper into themes of youth, self-discovery, and emotional growth, showcasing a maturation in their sound. As overpass prepare to take their place on the national stage, their blend of relatable lyrics and anthemic indie rock is sure to resonate with fans old and new.

With their momentum steadily building, it’s clear that they are one of the West Midlands’ most exciting up-and-coming bands, poised to make a lasting mark on the UK music scene.
