Tom A Smith - 'This Christmas Time'
It's been another exceptional year for Tom A. Smith, and he’s not ready to see it end just yet. The Sunderland artist is closing out 2024 with the release of his festive single, ‘This Christmas Time’.
With the same Christmas songs playing on the radio year after year, it’s always a refreshing treat to hear something new. Tom certainly delivered, injecting his signature indie-rock flair into the seasonal track. If you haven’t seen Tom perform during the holiday season, you might be surprised to learn that the track was written long before his career took off. Receiving a warm reception every time he performs it, it’s unquestionably stood the test of time.
Beautifully blending warmth and emotion, This Christmas Time boasts melancholic guitar riffs intertwined with twinkling synths that evoke the magic of Christmas. Stronger than ever, Tom’s passionate vocals soar as he delivers bittersweet lyrics about discovering joy at Christmas time, even after enduring a particularly bleak period. Unlike most Christmas songs, Tom A Smith’s new track captures the reflective moments that the holidays often bring. However, it doesn’t shy away from the joy of the season, especially during the chorus, which features a singalong that perfectly encapsulates the passion and crowd participation found at Tom’s live shows.
A heartwarming music video has been released alongside the track, featuring Tom singing as he walks through a serene forest. The video seamlessly blends footage of past performances with nostalgic home videos from past Christmases spent with his family. The music video isn't the only extra treat Tom has given us either - he’s also released a live version of the track, perfect for those unable to catch his current shows with The K's, The Clause, and The Lottery Winners.
It’s been an eventful year for Tom, to say the least. Alongside a headline tour, countless festival performances and support slots, he released the highly praised singles Get Me Started and I Don’t Want You To Have To Remember Me For Longer Than You Ever Knew Me, the latter a collaboration with Swim School. Closing out the year on a high note, This Christmas Time perfectly captures the kind of greatness we can look forward to from Tom in 2025.
