Public Order - 'STRANGER'
Welsh emerging indie rock group Public Order landed on my radar when they were due to support Cat Ryan at Bristol’s The Louisiana, and have cemented their space on it with the release of single ‘STRANGER’.
A hazy, subtly electronically-strengthened rock sound is shared with us through the band that are signed with Ignition Records. Public Order are a captivating live band and release peculiar yet addictive rock tracks, of which ‘STRANGER’ is a perfect example. The song brims with a broad and emotive electronic-tinged indie sound that is heightened by some delicious riffs and strong guitar play. The band is made up of childhood friends who spent most of their teenage years exploring a diverse range of musical inspirations. After having been influenced by The Stone Roses and The Prodigy, Public Order have slowly evolved into a band combining two worlds; dancefloor-filling rhythms of dance, and bold live guitars and thundering drums. They’ve brought the best of both worlds together and created their very own and captivating sound.
Reflecting on the single, the band said; “‘STRANGER’ for us is exactly what Public Order is about - it's guitar music and storytelling, backed by the synths and drums of the dance music we love and grew up on.” With this grand and explosive sound they prove that the label that first dropped them made quite the mistake, and although they might seem like the underdog, they show their determination and need to make and create music, Public Order is on a roll and won’t be stopped by anyone. ‘STRANGER’ highlights their progressive guitar-driven sound and reintroduces the band that have been away for a while, to celebrate their return they have been touring across the country with a series of headline and support shows. A show at London’s The George Tavern is due on the 13th of November, followed by a performance at Live at Leeds on the 16th of November.
