Festival News: Download add more names to their line up!
Coming in as somewhat of a surprise announcement, Download ‘24 has just announced another 8 bands; sprinkled over the three days, to keep the hype nice and high, Donnington very much looks the place to be this June.
With an already stacked bill, from headliners Queen Of The Stone Age, Fall Out Boy and Avenged Sevenfold, or returning legends Pantera, Tom Morello and Sum 41, all the way down to the still-to-explode powerhouses such as Swedish metallers Imminence, or UK’s own Noahfinnce, Download 2024 was already looking pretty, pretty good. But apparently, that wasn’t enough. They craved more.
So, another eight more bands have dropped!
On the Friday, Donnington will host both the recently revamped Soft Play, fresh off of their headline slot at 2000trees last year, as well as the brilliant Bayside, finally returning to UK shores for the first time in seven years.
Saturday has a few more additions than its weekday counterpart; the Avalanche stage will greet both the rock scene veterans LOWLIVES and the Bristol-based Mallavora, while the Welsh trio of Florence Black will open the Opus stage, and potential Eurovision champion Bambie Thug — “Doomsday Blue” is a hell of a contender for Ireland — will open the Apex stage.
Finally, the close of the weekend has had the final two additions of the announcement. The one-two duo of Southampton-based, theatrical/glam-rock outfit Creeper and Slayer legend Kerry King are both set to grace the Apex stage in the afternoon — although their respective crowds might see a quick turnaround, the Jim Steinman-esque Creeper battling it out with the thrash metal of King.
It’s hard to guess whether this will be Download’s last announcement for the year — but if it is, they’ve gone out with a bang.
