Tom A Smith - 'I Don't Want You To Have To Remember Me For Longer Than You Ever Knew Me' FT Swim School

Tom A Smith teams up with Alice Johnson of Swim School to create one of the tracks of the summer.

Life seems to be rather exciting for the Sunderland-based singer- songwriter at the moment.

Alongside his musical exploits, multi-talented Tom A Smith has recent-ly announced that he is to star in the autobiographical film based on Dave Stewart’s life.

The bold move into the world of acting is testament to the rising star’s character. Tom A Smith seems to love a challenge.

His creativity is at an all-time high, as evidenced by the result of his work with the incredibly talented vocalist Alice Johnson of Swim School.

The pair, and Tom A Smith’s band, have come together to create a truly brilliant piece of music.

‘I Don’t Want You To Have To Remember Me For Longer Than You Ever Knew Me” kicks off with distorted vocals of Johnson, as she sings out the title of the track. In an instant, Tom A Smith’s instantly recognisable voice is introduced, with the rest of his band complimenting his tone at steady pace, as Smith works his way through a story-like verse that recounts an emotional conversation.

As the music builds, Alice Johnson joins Tom A Smith and the pair combine to create such a unique and gripping sound that’s full of pure emotion.

What makes the tracks special and sets it apart from many others is the choruses- where Smith and Johnson sing out the song’s title.

The pair repeat the words and their voices swell with emotion.

The instrumentation around the vocals is perfect. Tom A Smith’s band transcend the track as they work with the words to drum up feelings of reflection, sadness, love and everything in between.

All in all, the track is beautiful. It feels extremely personal and reflectional.

On the track, Tom A Smith said: “This is, in my opinion, the best and most personal song I’ve ever written. I’ve met Alice and the Swim School guys and really love everything they’ve done and think our vocals complement each other perfectly. She was so innovative when working out her harmonies to the point that I can’t imagine it without her.”

Tom A Smith and Alice Johnson have mustered up a masterpiece with this one. The pair combine to give us a vocal performance full of emotion and talent.
