Nothing Rhymes With Orange - 'Stepping Up My Spine'

Indie quartet Nothing Rhymes With Orange take it up a notch with their brand new single: ‘Stepping Up My Spine’.

The group have been plying their trade for a while now and have recently left behind the comfort of their hometown to strive for success in the city. Their first offering of new music since the move comes in the form of the stunning new single, ‘Stepping Up My Spine’.

Kicking off with an instantly commanding guitar riff, the track is extremely well put together. Early full-band instrumentation brings in the vocals of frontman Elijah Easton, whose voice on this track is full of raw emotion. He takes listeners through a passionate initial verse, exploring the realities of coming of age, with undeniable feelings of unrequited love translated through his vocal expression as well as the rest of the band’s use of their instruments.

The choruses of the track are nothing short of stunning. The band have mustered up the perfect blend of catchiness and quality with the focal point of this one. Easton calls out the brutally honest words: “You’re in my head, I can’t get you out my mind.” Drums of Lui Venables and bass from Sam Briggs create a fast-paced rhythm section that perfectly compliments Easton’s vocals.

The track is transcended by the free-flowing lead guitar riffs of Fin Anderson-Farquhar.

When all members of Nothing Rhymes With Orange come together on ‘Stepping Up My Spine’ they show off their abilities at full throttle. Their talent and passion for their craft is evident in the sheer euphoria of the music itself. The band pair the telling words of Easton with music that will take listeners over at once, filling them with the buzz that the track creates.

Having toured with the likes of fellow-south west outfit CARSICK, it’s clear that Nothing Rhymes With Orange have been absorbing any tips and tricks they can get as they look to propel themselves into 2025.

If ‘Stepping Up My Spine’ is anything to go off, it could well be a very big year for Nothing Rhymes With Orange.
