Festival News: Deftones to headline All Points East presents Outbreak Fest London

How do you top getting Turnstile right on the eve of their massive explosion? Outbreak, now with All Points East, somehow finds a way – pairing up Deftones, IDLES, Amyl and the Sniffers and more for a belter of a Sunday.

The first year of Outbreak fest, partnered with LIDO festival, brought the hardcore vibes to London. Following her breakout ’24, Charli XCX was tipped what artist would have their Brat Summer next. She chose – surprisingly – Turnstile – a hardcore band with seemingly zero crossover with her audience. And she was right, because low and behold, the grammy nominated stars are a band who have never been bigger. Outbreak partnered them with the likes of Alex G, Knocked Loose, Speed and Model/Actriz, showcasing that they were never afraid to stick to one genre. This year promises to be no different – enlisting Deftones as headliners on their tenth album, private music, being labelled as one of the Radio 6 artists of 2026 – and following up a sold out global arena tour. It will be one not to be missed – private music is that good of an album and they’ll put on that good of a show – evolving consistently over the years in ways that you don’t really get anymore. Few bands have this longevity and few bands just keep getting better.

IDLES are a band that I aim to see at least once each year – Bristol’s finest post punk figureheads make themselves a claim as one of the best in the industry, if not the best – Joe Talbot has a raw; kinetic energy that has rivalled himself as an unmatched frontman that knows his politics are in the right place and his music can match that: get ready for a lot of anti-monarchy, pro Palestine speeches in the best possible way – but now on their fourth album; they’ve showed themselves ready for the biggest stage possible. Their album TANGK was a step in the right direction – and you can expect wild, sweaty pits.

Next bill down is the Ozzie post punk giants Amyl and the Sniffers who have been elected as AC/DC’s heir apparent, and Amy Taylor’s rapid rise as one of the most predominant frontwomen in punk shows that they were rockstar ready from day one – anyone who’s seen Amyl in say, the Shacklewell Arms, Scala or Przym Kingston will tell you that – and now back on the back of their Cartoon Darkness record the prolific tourers now how to put on a show. They have just toured North America with Turnstile so this is a return to London and it will be a welcoming one – their sweat-soaked band of punk rock ensure a chaotic set full of energy.

No genre is immune from the spirit of Outbreak; its genre fusion operating in unlikeliest of places. No stranger to operating outside of his genre with support dates for Linkin Park, is rapper JPEGMAFIA who will know how to put on a pit to rival the heavier outfits. I Lay Down My Life For You is a phenomenal accomplishment and he will put on a show like the best of them. ¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U allows for plenty of more genre-blending – electronic free flowing dance. Don’t forget EsDeeKid, Merseyside’s own who is having something of a viral moment.

And then there’s Deafhaven; pioneers of blackgaze with one of the best releases of 2025 – Lonely People With Power, an absolute must-see. Basement make the journey over from Manchester to London; emotional altrock UK heroes, and Wisp continues her rapid growth capturing the shoegaze spirit from last year. There’s also more punk in the vein of Model/Actriz, think New Yorkers Show Me The Body to make sure that the whole day be packed with riot and energy.

For those who have watched Outbreak grow over time from its 2011 birth of a DIY one-day festival in the North of England; it has transformed into one of the finest homes of the UK counterculture. 2025’s expansion to London brought bigger names and more cross-genre fusion that remains true to the spirit of Outbreak’s early days – whilst taking advantage of the reputation of All Points East that has put on memorable show after memorable show in London since the days of HAIM, The Strokes, and more. Expect little different – and more memorable chaos this time with a celebration of everything from punk, to blackgaze, shoegaze and electronic. This is the place to be.
