Lithia - 'Badlands'
Lithia has just released their new track 'Badlands' - a growing cinematic anthem that takes you on a waltz between alt rock and hazy prog drive melodies.
The track deals with the mind of the maladaptive daydreamer - one that cannot quite wake up. Frontwoman Sylvia Vaser’s haunting vocals drift through lines like “Miles of nowhere / it’s the soul of my abandon / alone and slow my life breathes,” exploring the fine line between freedom and detachment. While solitude may spark creativity, the song suggests it can just as easily become a coping mechanism.
Along with the release of this track, the band have shared a special video to go with it. Shot entirely on 8mm film. 'I wanted to bring a touch of lightness to something darker,” Vaser shares. “It’s tongue in cheek. We see this a lot—the romantic idea of being alone on the road, a cowboy fantasy so to speak. But at some point you have to ask: if you’re tied to nothing, are you truly free—or just running from yourself?'.
'Badlands' confronts that question with subtle force. Its sonics lull you in and unfold like a dream sequence-beautiful, disorienting, and impossible to hold onto.
