Anxious’s relentless schedule has led to various iterations of their sound that, while altering slightly from release to release, remain within the same sonic world they have so carefully crafted for themselves, and ’Secret Weapon’ is yet another step away from their regular sound. Littered with hollow and punchy riffs and an unyielding stream of effects on everything from the guitars to the vocals, this new track holds a growth of angst within its core as its pleasing yet mildly discordant sound radiates through your speakers. This freshest evolution of the patented Anxious sound feels creative and intuitive, keeping to their from-the-soul style of songwriting while still tinkering with undiscovered territory; this exploration has been paramount for Anxious and feels as if it has truly come to form through this short but sweet banger.
From the stage to the studio, Anxious keep climbing rungs on the proverbial ladder of the modern hardcore-adjacent pop-punk scene, and to see them continue to brandish their sword in all new formats is truly hypnotic. The catchy and winding bends of the guitar riffs, coupled with the sunken and distorted vocals, make for a true earworm, festering in your brain’s recent listens and cementing its place as one of their most replayable songs. I, as I’m sure many of the Anxious fanbase can only hope that this creative foray into different stylings is something that remains grounded throughout their constant releases that have picked up since the release of their sensational 2025 album ’Bambi’.
Anxious endless touring continues throughout the year in a truly all-star cast of scene legends and fresh faces headed by the genre titans Citizen. This relentless touring has clearly paid off in full as the two new recent singles have found their footing as some of the brightest and most human songs in their already wildly rich, albeit short, catalogue. If they can continue to evolve and grow at the same pace they have proven they can, then I am certain that we will be seeing tour posters for extensive headline tours in no time, each of which will have been earned through constant graft and creative ingenuity.
