Australian trio With Confidence make a triumphant return with their summery pop-punk single ‘That Something’.

With Confidence have announced details of their highly anticipated sophomore album, ‘Love and Loathing’ which will be released on August 10th via Hopeless Record. ‘That Something’ is the first single taken from the album, teasing listeners with what to expect from the trio.

Blasting in immediately with uplifting vocals and a vibrant riff, you can almost feel the summer breeze blowing through your hair. Picturesque and dainty lyrics like ‘We shoot through constellations. Two scorpions racing while I’m falling down the middle’ will bring a smile to your face, and send your heart fluttering as bassist and vocalist Jayden Seeley delivers a captivating performance. As you build up to the chorus with a growing ‘woah’, the chorus is sure to be stuck in your head for days.

The band has also released a fun and colourful music video to accompany the single. Vibrant visuals combine with swooping camera work to create a dynamic and engaging video, drawing in the viewer. It’s a lot of fun; at one point, drummer Josh Brozzesi and guitarist Inigo Del Carmen swing baseball bats at white piñata balls, which explodes in a burst of pink powder, bathing the whole video in a gorgeous pastel glow.

The band have also released information about what fans can expect from ‘Love and Loathing’. Working with veteran producer Mike Green, who has helped produce All Time Low and Paramore albums, the band is set to release one of the most emotive albums of the year, filled with soaring melodies and stirring lyrics, carrying you through first loves, blistering break-ups and everything in between.

Revealing a bit more information, Seeley mentions that, “There’s a looming relationship with loathing, mostly about the concept of self-loathing.” Seeley further explains, “That period before getting into a relationship is very introspective - you’re trying to be a better person, but a lot of how that happens is because people are really hard on [themselves]. That ties to love just as strongly, because in the relationship, you want to keep getting better. In every way.

That Something’ is shaping up to be one of the catchiest pop-punk tracks of the summer, with it’s memorable hooks and bigger-than-life chorus. We cannot wait to hear the album, and whilst we wait for that to come out, we will be continuously looping this catchy single.
