Sick Joy - 'History'

To kick-start their UK headline tour, Sick Joy have released the standalone single ‘History’ which comes shortly after the release of their highly anticipated ‘Them Days’ EP.

Appearing to follow on from the sludgy, volatile, and melancholic atmosphere of ‘Dirty Water’ the latest single from the Brighton-based trio sees them channelling that energy and taking it a thousand steps further. Mykl Barton’s vocals are at their most gravelly and intense, whilst the thunderous combination of guitar and bass in the chorus is almost suffocating with their rumbling assault on the senses. As Sick Joy continue to pioneer the nostalgia for that infamous decade of music, it truly feels like they’re morphing into one of the bands that might just be able to go all the way – and ‘History’ might just be their best release to date.
