The Satellite Station - 'Hollow Sound'
Singer songwriter and multi instrumentalist The Satellite Station shares introspective folk on heartfelt single ‘Hollow Sound’.
’Hollow Sound’ is driven by the gentle thudding of percussion as The Satellite Station (Travis Rue) creates a heartbeat living inside the sonic bones of his song to coincide with the lyrics, “the beat of my heart it makes a hollow sound”. Lumineers style guitar melodies and sparse keys give the track an upbeat kick to juxtapose the raw country-esque grit to The Satellite Station’s compelling vocal as he sombrely shares his doubts, fears and pains occasionally paired with beautiful layered female vocals.
On the track The Statellite Station explains, “Hollow Sound is a song of self reflection. It is about both pushing through fear, but also admitting we can only do the best we can in the moment”.
’Hollow Sound’ builds to a rousing indie folk climax with bold, dramatic instrumentation as The Satellite Station confesses, “I don’t know why I’m losing sleep, I’ve got miles to go” indicating that there’s still time to get to where you need to be and hinting at hope on the horizon in its refreshingly cathartic ending.
