Androgynous rock n’ roll makes a biting comeback.

Cardiff-based TELGATE have released a mean slice of rock n’ roll that oozes attitude and sexuality – the makings of all great bands! ‘CherryTight’ has a gritty Britpop vibe. Think Suede’s ‘Metal Mickey’ but with more oomph. Vocalist/lyricist Casper James says ‘Cherry Tight’ is “a metaphor for the backlash and social reaction to the AIDS crisis in the 1980s.”

The brilliance of the lyrics here is that James is able to take the history of this crisis and write something completely relevant as to how it has affected the LGBTQ community – a massive community that you don’t find many rock bands writing about.

Musically, this is just simply a great rock n’ roll record. Thundering yet smooth basslines, cool guitar riffs and leads and drum beats that compliment the song and the band beautifully. If this doesn’t get you rocking, then nothing will.
