The Amazons - 'Doubt It'

The Amazons have announced their second LP the only way they know how, with a stone cold rock anthem in the shape of their new single ‘Doubt It’.

It was a long, but welcome return to the Reading band at the beginning of the year with the excellent single ‘Mother’, which hinted at a darker, heavier sound which is certainly been taking forward on ‘Future Dust’.

New music also sees a return to the stage, with a homecoming gig at Reading University on May 27th to celebrate the release of ‘Future Dust’ which will kick off a string of festival shows throughout the summer.

In my review for ‘Mother’, I commented that their new sound was reminiscent of Queens of the Stone Age and ‘Doubt It’ adopts a similar hip shaking tune and another rousing vocal.

‘Doubt It’ tells the story of a romantic and again showcases once again the maturity the band now take in their song writing, with lead singer Matt Thompson stating the tracks about being on the brink of a “potentially stupid decision” due to “lust-induced blindness” and not “succumbing to the temptations”.

I always excited to see outcome of The Amazons’ time away, and ‘Doubt it’ only certifies that fact.

‘Doubt It’ from The Amazons’ upcoming album ‘Forever Dust’ is available now on all major streaming platforms and they will headline Reading University on May 27th.
