EP Review: ELINA - 'In Hindsight'
Sweden’s ELINA releases her emotive debut EP ‘In Hindsight’ alongside her new single and video for ‘Masquerade’.
Since ELINA’s debut single, ‘Wild Enough’ i’ve had nothing but good things to say about her music and her debut EP is everything I hoped it would be.
Featuring 6 beautiful piano and vocal led ballads, ’In Hindsight’ includes previously reviewed tracks, ‘Wild Enough’ , ‘Here' With Me’ and ‘Champion’. These tracks sit beside ‘Mirage’ which is a gut wrenching account of loving and longing in secret, the warm and soulful bonus track, ‘I Don’t Mind If You Don’t Mind (Draft)’ and affecting new single ‘Masquerade'.
On the new single, ELINA explains, “‘Masquerade’ for me is an invitation to embrace everything that makes us human. All the self-doubt, the fear, the desires, the confusion that comes with letting someone in and loving them. I want it to be a voice of reason and a reminder to be kind to ourselves and to others, knowing that everyone is navigating through life with their own baggage”.
Understated yet magnificent. Vulnerable, yet fiery, and determined. Longing and impassioned. Wounded yet hopeful. Personal, but completely relatable. ‘In Hindsight’ is a stunning collection of achingly beautiful songs by an incredibly gifted and proficient singer-songwriter.
