EP Review: snake eyes - 'skeletons'

Self proclaimed grit-poppers, snake eyes, new EP ‘skeletons’ is a raucous display of potential from the promising power trio.

As fresh as they are and with only one live show under their collective belt, you can just tell how good these tracks will be live. don’t worry careens into the album with the punkest of openings, not letting up through its entire sub two minute runtime.

Another highlight on the record is skeletons. A whisper quiet intro gives way to an outright banger. It’s laden with an undeniable chorus that drives the whole thing forward. It’s the title track and it may well be my favourite song on the record, being the poster child for all this EPs strengths.

Next comes wishbone which can only be described as explosive. It clocks in only slightly longer than the opener and uses that short runtime to throw you about as much as possible. The release closes with bugged out, a moodier affair which shows another side of the band. From it’s atmospheric verses to it’s big, noisy bridge, the track takes the listener on one last ride.

If you’re a fan of grungy, high energy punk rock that forces you to sing along I wholeheartedly recommend this EP. As far as debut releases go, this one has such a clear sense of style and purpose. I can’t wait to see what’s next for snake eyes.
