Following her incredibly successful debut ‘the masquerade’, mxmtoon returns with new EP ‘dawn’ exploring a sunnier side of her signature sound.

‘dawn’ opens with dreamy, transient ‘fever dream’, a track that sets the tone for the entire record. In previous releases, mxmtoon has already set herself apart as a songwriter extraordinaire, turning diary entry type lyrics into the most stunning songs and taking the sad-girl aesthetic to a whole other level. This time around, she launches her music into a more upbeat, poppy sphere - "I wanted to remind people that things will be okay and even on the darkest day, the sun still rises," Maia states. "I want to lift people up. I still love making sad songs, but I wanted to make something that felt refreshing to me this time."

A change that is reflected in her hopeful lyricism as in anthem for overthinkers ‘Lessons’- “Don’t look back, just go forward like you mean it. Say it if you feel it. Life goes so fast, so, go live with good intentions, today’s another lesson”.

Mxmtoon has a gift for beautifully flowing melodies, peace of mind-inducing harmonies, songs that are the sonic equivalent to watching the sunrise and taking a deep breath of fresh air. On ‘dawn’ she adds fun, fresh beats and infectious rhythms to the mix that make the EP an essential for this year’s summer soundtrack.
